Alfred Addy brings over 15 years of professional experience across nursing, health education, and public health promotion to the Director role overseeing monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) and Senior Regulatory Specialist at the Africa Institute For Regulatory Affairs (AIFRA), Ghana. Currently, he serves as the Vice Principal of Assinman Nursing and Midwifery Training College, positioning him well to support the research and analysis mission of this first-of-its-kind think tank in Africa.

 

With 60+ publications on public health promotion,  vaccine regulations and manufacturing, Mr. Addy offers extensive applied research experience and expertise to lead projects around medical product regulations and access on the continent. His background also includes developing technology-enabled solutions for vaccine distribution challenges faced during the COVID-19 response.

 

Additionally, as the current Central Region Chairman of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Mr. Addy brings influence and deep networks across Ghana’s healthcare system. His previous roles span clinical nursing, public health interventions, health education leadership, and emergency response teams – giving him on-the-ground knowledge of regional health system needs and opportunities.

 

Mr. Addy’s background in executing health programs, along with his academic training in nursing, health education, and a Master’s in Public Health, make him well-prepared to translate policies and regulations into public health impact. His memberships in national public health councils reinforce his standing as a collaborative leader able to convene partners on evidence-based regulatory improvements for healthcare in Ghana and across Africa.
