Felix Nyante

Mr. Nyante is a transformational leader and regulatory expert with over 35 years of experience spanning clinical practice, education, policy, and regulation across Ghana and the West African subregion.
As President & Executive Director of the Institute, Felix provides strategic direction and oversight on the organization’s efforts to build regulatory capacity and harmonize policies for health professions across Africa.
Most recently, Felix served two highly impactful terms as Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of (N&MC, Ghana) from 2014 to 2022. As Registrar, he led transformative reforms such as introducing Africa’s first computer-based nursing and midwifery licensure exam and strengthening continuing professional development. His tenure tremendously increased the nursing (and midwifery) workforce and elevated regulatory standards in Ghana as an example across the African continent. These reforms have become a benchmark across Africa.
As the founder of this Institute and as former Registrar of the N&MC, Ghana, Felix’s key achievements includes:
- Published 18+ peer review papers on regulations
- Increased registered nursing and midwifery professionals in Ghana by 45% as Registrar
- Led adoption of upgraded midwifery curriculum standards for 32 Midwifery Training Schools in Ghana
- Pioneered Africa’s first digital nursing licensure exam in Ghana, increasing examination integrity and access
- Provided technical guidance to the Liberian Board for Nursing and Midwifery on implementing digital examinations, now a model for West Africa.
Through his prolific career, Felix has served in key leadership and advisory roles on major councils and governing bodies,. These included:
Regional Council for Health Professionals Education – ECOWAS Region
Ministry of Health Advisory Board – Ghana
Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives
Ho Teaching Hospital Board
Nursing and Midwifery Council – Ghana.
Among his honors, Felix was inducted into Ghana’s inaugural Nursing & Midwifery Hall of Fame (2021) and received the Ministry of Health’s Excellence in Regulation award.
Mr. Nyante holds a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Arts in Educational Administration, focused on health sciences teaching, training and regulation. He has undergraduate degree in Health Science Education and diplomas in Nursing.
