Ebenezer Aboagye Akuffo, Ghana, Board Member
Ebenezer Aboagye Akuffo brings over 20 years of distinguished experience in nursing education, practice, administration and leadership to his role as an Executive Member of the Africa Institute for Regulatory Affairs (AIFRA) Board. His expertise spans critical areas including health professional training, curriculum development, student affairs, and regulatory examinations.
Currently serving as the Deputy to the Head of Health Training Institutional Unit at Ghana’s Ministry of Health, Mr. Akuffo has held progressive leadership roles in top nursing and midwifery colleges. As a nurse educator at institutions such as the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Korle-Bu and the Nursing and Midwifery Training College in Koforidua, he has been instrumental in preparing students for professional practice and regulatory licensure exams.
Mr. Akuffo’s extensive academic experience directly contributes to AIFRA’s mission of building regulatory and oversight capacity in Africa through training programs. His track record of providing tutelage, developing curricula aligned to national regulatory standards, and supporting students through counseling and research supervision positions him as an asset in growing AIFRA’s academic and capacity building initiatives.
Furthermore, Mr. Akuffo brings experience supporting regulatory functions through his role as an examiner for the Nurses and Midwives Council of Ghana, where he has evaluated both practical skills and written scripts. This hands-on knowledge of the licensure process will inform AIFRA’s efforts to strengthen competency-based regulatory assessments across health professions.
With 5 publications to his credit and experience co-authoring a book capturing the history of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, Mr. Akuffo also possesses the research and writing capabilities to support AIFRA’s thought leadership in the regulatory space. His participation in national committees developing codes of conduct and constitutions for educational institutions further demonstrates his policy acumen.
