Scope and Delimitation:

AJFLDR explores the intersections of law, governance, human rights, and socioeconomic development in African contexts. Comparative analyses of legal systems, case studies of reform, and critical scholarship on the role of law in advancing equitable development are featured.

Submission Requirements:

  • Original legal and socio-legal research articles
  • Maximum 10,000 words including footnotes
  • Unstructured abstract summarizing key arguments in 200 words
  • Chicago Manual of Style footnotes and bibliography
  • Plagiarism threshold 8% with references excluded
  • AI use limited to 20% or less, and must be clearly acknowledged

Review Process:

  • Double-blind peer review by 2 legal scholars
  • Desk review by editors for relevance and quality
  • Reviewers assess legal reasoning, evidence, theoretical framing
  • Comments returned to authors within 2-3 weeks
  • Multiple revision rounds allowed to refine arguments
  • Option for post-publication open peer commentary
